Wednesday was a fantastic day at Thorncombe Woods!! The children, staff and parent/carer helpers had a wonderful morning. The sun was shining through the trees as the children enjoyed exploring in the forest. They noticed changes around the forest that are starting to happen as we move from autumn into winter. The children became nature detectives looking for a range of autumn and winter treasures. We also made leaf wands.

Once again, a massive thank you to our parent and career helpers on the day.

Here are a few pictures of the fun…

We have had a spot-tacular day today for Children in Need today!  We have enjoyed some Pudsey-themed activities throughout the day. Thank you for all of your generous contributions.

In book bags today you will find a new reading book and a tricky word activity or blending activity. You will also find your child’s individual class photo proof.

This week we have covered the phoneme ‘z’ and the digraphs ‘ch’ and ‘qu’. We have also looked at words with an ‘s’ at the end (plurals and verbs) you may wish to practice reading these with your child as these start to pop up in reading books.

We have taught the children to sound-talk/blend the word covering the ‘s’ and once successfully blended add the ‘s’ on. For example

cat  – cats    duck – ducks      jump – jumps     hop – hops     run – runs

Here are our tricky words for this week…
