This week we have been investigating the number 6. I wonder if you could find things around your house that represents the number 6? Some of the things we have found around our classroom are egg boxes, a toy vehicle that had 6 wheels, and a dice.
We have continued our learning around Guy Fawkes/fireworks and started to think about Remembrance Day. Here are some pictures of this weeks learning…
Phonics
Towards the end of last half term we introduced ‘Tricky Words’ in our Little Wandle (Phonics) Sessions. Tricky words are words that can not be decoded easily. We use many of these tricky words often and they are used early on in decodable books, so its important for children to be able to read them fluently. We teach tricky words by identifying the ‘tricky part’ and the sounds it makes, then sound out and blending the word as normal.
Please see below the attached grid to explain the ‘tricky part’. These are the tricky words we have covered so far.

Tue 14th November 2023 – Individual Photos – No PE Kit to be worn to school on this day please.
Wed 15th November 2023. – Thorncombe woods school trip.
Remember to send your child into school wearing more ‘forest friendly’ bottoms such as jeans or jogging bottoms. They will also need a water bottle and a snack in a small rucksack that your child can wear with ease. Please provide wellies in a carrier bag and wear normal school shoes to school.
